Creative social media solutions

    About me

Welcome to my website. I’m Darren Dutton — a writer, director, editor, actor, musician, stand-up comedian, and educator with over two decades of experience in the creative industries. I’ve worked across the UK broadcast landscape, creating comedy content for a wide range of platforms and channels. My background includes writing, directing, editing, and performing, with comedy running as a constant thread through all of it. Alongside this, I’ve also spent over 25 years as a lecturer in creative media, supporting and inspiring the next generation of storytellers. In 2020, I shifted my focus toward digital platforms, following the success of my social media content during the pandemic — which collectively gained millions of views. That success turned into a new professional direction: social media strategy, digital production, and online storytelling.

    What I do

These days, I work across several creative and educational spaces, offering a range of services including:

    • Social Media Strategy & Management
I’ve supported major TV broadcasts with engaging digital content and live coverage, including EurovisionStrictly Come DancingHave I Got News For YouMorning LiveThe One Show, and Steph’s Packed Lunch. I know what works online and how to make content that connects with real audiences.

    • Comedy Writing & Video Production
Whether it’s scripted sketches, branded comedy, or character-driven content, I write, direct, edit and perform. I bring humour, heart, and professional polish to every project.

    • Music Composition
As a pianist (Grade 8) and lifelong musician, I compose original music for short films, digital media, and performance projects. Music and comedy are often closely linked in my work — and I love exploring that intersection.

    • Creative Education Projects
I’ve worked as a lecturer in creative subjects for over 25 years, and I continue to collaborate with schools, colleges, and universities. I offer short-term projects such as: Making short films with studentsRunning comedy and performance workshopsHelping develop and grow social media platformsOffering one-off masterclasses or tailored sessions for media and performing arts programme

      • Stand-Up Comedy
Most recently, I’ve stepped into the world of live stand-up. Performing my own material on stage has been a new and exciting creative challenge — and I’m now actively building on this in 2025 with plans to perform more regularly at open mics, gigs, and comedy nights across the UK. If you’re booking or curating line-ups, I’d love to be considered.

    Who I work with

I work with production companies, broadcasters, digital teams, educational institutions, live event organisers, and creative collaborators of all kinds. Whether you’re developing a new series, planning a short-term school project, or looking for someone to step up to the mic, I bring experience, humour, and creative energy to every collaboration.
